St. Louis Cardinals baseball great Ozzie Smith was a guest speaker at the grand opening of the newly renovated Arch grounds on July 3. The revitalized Arch grounds have been named the Gateway Arch National Park. In addition, the underground museum has been updated and renovated with many new exhibits.

Sgt. Johnathan Elder tossed a football around with his sons, Gatlin (middle) and Hudson (rear) on the revitalized Arch grounds during the 4th of July weekend. Among the many festivities during the multi-day event was a "Salute to the Troops," which was held on the main stage and included videos and music honoring America's service men and women.

Fair Saint Louis, “America’s Biggest Birthday Party,” returned to the Arch this year and was celebrated on the newly-restored St. Louis Arch grounds. The revitalized Arch grounds, now officially titled Gateway Arch National Park, has been five years in the making. Thousands visited the refurbished Museum and Visitor Center at the Gateway Arch during the 4th of July weekend.
