A Missouri circuit judge on Monday, June 10, granted Planned Parenthood in the Central West End – the state’s only clinic that provides abortion services – a preliminary injunction allowing the clinic to remain open, for now.

The judge’s order stipulates that the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services must make a decision about the renewal of the clinic’s license by Friday, June 21.

If access to abortion services is eliminated at St. Louis’ Planned Parenthood location, Missouri will become the first state without a health center that provides abortion since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.

Planned Parenthood said the judge’s injunction allowing the Central West End facility to remain open for the time being is a victory, the fight to continue to provide safe abortions in Missouri is far from over.
