Times photojournalist Ursula Ruhl was awarded first place for "Best Feature Photograph" in the 2018 Missouri Press Foundation Better Newspaper Contest for this shot of the Webster Groves Community Days celebration.

The Webster-Kirkwood Times and South County Times collected five awards, including four first-place finishes, in the weeklies division of the state's journalism competition.

Newspapers across Missouri competed for awards in 45 different categories in the 2018 Missouri Press Foundation Better Newspaper Contest.

Webster-Kirkwood Times

• Kevin Murphy, Times managing editor, was recognized with a first-place award for best front page design.

• Jaime Mowers, Times general assignment report, was recognized with a first-place award for best sports feature for the story, "Couple Completes Six Marathons."

• Ursula Ruhl, Times photojournalist, was recognized with a first-place award for best feature photograph for her photo, "July 4 Webster Groves Carnival."

• Diana Linsley, Times photojournalist, was recognized with a first-place award for best news photograph for her photo, "House Fire in Tuxedo Park."
