The Missouri Realtors trade association has published a monthly statistics report highlighting the Missouri real estate market for the month of January.
During January 2019, 4,002 homes were sold in Missouri. The total sales volume topped $774.9 million. Homes sold at a consistent pace in January, staying on the market for an average of 62 days. That’s six days less when compared to January 2018. The median sales price was approximately $163,667. That is a 24.3 percent increase over January 2018.
Additionally, interest rates saw a slight decrease in January and continue to remain historically low. According to Freddie Mac, the national average commitment rate for a 30-year, conventional, fixed-rate mortgage was at 4.46 percent in January, down from 4.64 percent in December 2018. By comparison, the interest rate in January 2018 was 4.03 percent.
