On Saturday, Nov. 5, Kirkwood Youth In Action and Olive Chapel AME Church held a special service for veterans who are buried in Quinette Cemetery. The cemetery dates to 1866 and is one of the oldest African American burial grounds in Missouri. The service included presentation of the colors, bagpipes, bugle and a 21-gun salute. There are five veterans who gave their lives and are buried in Kirkwood’s historic Quinette Cemetery.
