Thank you to the Times for its recap of the recent election results. The clarity with which they presented each of the county propositions, and larger Missouri ballot measures, makes me wonder why the actual ballot, in any election, is always written in such a convoluted manner.

Seriously, it generally requires re-reading, and then leaves one with the shadow of doubt that something just got sneaked on to the proposal that I will regret. I always spend time researching ballot measures before an election, however some people don’t, and use radio and TV as their guide.

Who pens this stuff, and why the obtuse legalese? I propose a ballot measure to remove the purposeful confusion. Clearly it can done. In the end, obtuse language serves neither an up or down end result, right?
