The Foundation for Sunset Hills will inaugurate its new community speakers series by presenting Elizabeth Struckhoff of the Missouri Botanical Garden to speak on “Designing With Nature In Mind.”

Farmers Insurance agent Greg Mans is helping veterans and military personnel in the St. Louis area ease the transition from service to civilian life by distributing free suits and pieces of professional attire at the Third Annual Suits for 500 Soldiers Giveaway.

“Laumeier After Dark: Fire & Light,” a free, large-scale, indoor and outdoor evening event using fire as a medium for artistic production, is set for Saturday, Feb. 9, 4 to 9 p.m. at Laumeier Sculpture Park, 12580 Rott Road in Sunset Hills.

On a snow covered, cold, morning of Dec. 16, 1944, the largest battle of World War II broke out in the Ardennes region of Belgium and Luxembourg – known today as the Battle of the Bulge. This was the last major effort of the German Army in an attempt to split and defeat the Allied Forces.

The public is invited to sponsor remembrance wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 15, to honor those who served the U.S. as well as current military members.
