In September, The Gallery at University City Public Library (6701 Delmar Blvd) will host Timeless Fibers: Tradition and Beyond, an exhibit featuring a wide array of works by the Weavers’ Guild of St. Louis. The exhibit is part of the regional Innovations in Textiles 2019 collaborative art project.
Timeless Fibers will be on display in The Gallery Sept. 1-26, and an opening reception will be held Friday, Sept. 6 from 6-8 p.m. The Weavers’ Guild artists will demonstrate their techniques from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, paired with a family-friendly storytime at 6:30 p.m.
The Gallery at University City Public Library is one of more than 45 regional art galleries and museums participating in Innovations in Textiles 2019 this fall. The collaborative project was created to present innovative exhibitions that explore fiber art, textiles and fashion created by local, regional, national, and international artists. Exhibits in The Gallery are available for viewing any time the Library is open: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The Library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2 for Labor Day.
