STL Village, a not-for-profit, member-driven community network, celebrated its third anniversary in June as the first aging-in-place organization in St. Louis based on the Village model.
This concept originated in Boston in 2001 and has grown to over 220 independent community groups across the country. Villages provide a network of services and social connections that make it possible for adults to stay independent and active without having to move from the homes and neighborhoods they love.
In response to growing demand, STL Village is also launching a new Associate Membership option open to adults age 50-plus who reside in the St. Louis metro area.
"This new option allows adults who may not need our in-home support services to access all of our monthly activities and events," said Madeline Franklin, executive director of STL Village. "Our welcoming atmosphere, where people can meet new friends, is what attracts people to STL Village. We offer a wide-ranging menu of events each month including health and wellness activities, cultural outings, happy hours and opportunities to volunteer in the community."
Full Membership is open to residents age 50+ living in the STL Village footprint.
STL Village is located at 6633 Delmar Blvd. For more information, call 314-802-0275 or visit stlvillage.org.
