Fenton's former deputy city clerk, Morgan Kuepfert, was recently hired from among 16 applicants to become the city clerk. She's worked for the city for eight years, serving as deputy clerk for the past two years. Kuepfert worked at Fenton's RiverChase Recreation Center for six years.
Fenton's clerk position has been vacant since March 10 after the retirement of its former city clerk/manager Diane Monteleone. Kuepfert served as interim city clerk for day-to-day duties since then.
Kuepfert's main job responsibilities are being the custodian of city records on behalf of 4,022 residents, creating board of aldermen agendas and maintaining meeting minutes. She also co-manages the city's public emergency notifications program, and handles special projects.
"I'm eager to further my career and education of municipal government with Fenton," said Kuepfert.
Fenton City Administrator Lisa Peck said she was impressed with Kuepfert's professionalism and dedication.
