The Affton Days Parade and Affton Community Days Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16.
This year's Affton Community Days Festival, with the theme "Affton's Family Affair," is being hosted by Affton Community Volunteer Organization. The event will take place immediately following the parade on Saturday, Sept. 16, from noon to 6 p.m., on the Affton High School Football Field, 8309 Mackenzie Road.
Since the festival's inception in 1993, the Affton Community Days Festival has been sponsored by the Affton Chamber of Commerce. It has been held at one of several locations within Affton; however, the 2017 organizing committee was unable to secure a venue.
Even though the chamber is not hosting the festival, it is still upholding the standing tradition of the parade that has taken place since 1984. The parade, with the theme "Affton Chamber Turns Platinum," begins at 10 a.m. at Affton High School, traveling south on Mackenzie, then east on Gravois, west on Weber, then north on Mackenzie where it will end at Rogers Middle School parking lot.
Judges will award winners for participants including Theme of Parade, Judge's Choice, Most Original Entry, Best Church Entry and Best School Entry.
Online registration for the parade is now available on the chamber's website at www.afftonchamber.com. Any entry received after Aug. 31 will not be included in the judging line-up.
