Four Newcomers Elected To Lindbergh School Board

Cathy Carlock Lorenz, Matt Alonzo, Christy Watz and Mike Shamia all newcomers were elected to the Lindbergh School Board of Education on Tuesday.

 
Seven candidates ran for three, three-year seats that were open on the board. Additionally, two candidates ran for an unexpired one-year term ending in April 2018.

 
For the three-year seats, Lorenz received the most support with 6,201 votes (21 percent), followed by Alonzo with 5,329 votes (18 percent) and Watz with 4,642 votes (15 percent).

 
In the race for the unexpired one-year term, Mike Shamia won the seat with 6,089 votes (59 percent) over Martha Duchild's 4,250 votes (41) percent.

 
The new board will be responsible for hiring a new district superintendent.

 
Incumbent Kathleen Kienstra received 14.9 percent of the vote and incumbent Vicki Lorenz Englund received 14.6 percent.
