Monticello Railway Museum in Monticello, Illinois, is sponsoring a special Pvt. Roy W. Hamm Tribute Train on Saturday, Oct. 20. Train rides at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. will honor Hamm, Monticello's first casualty in World War I. Soldiers will be on board every ride.
In addition to these special rides, the museum holds train rides on Saturdays and Sundays through October. The museum has on display many rail cars and other equipment.
Visitors can be a locomotive engineer during Throttle Time held on most Saturdays through October and the first weekend of November.
During Railroad Days on Sept 15 and 16, enjoy unlimited rides on vintage trains and motor cars on former Illinois Central and Illinois Terminal trackage.
